Side Event UNFCCC - Gender and climate change research: gaps, questions, and potentials

07.06.2010 - 07.06.2010 | UNFCCC Talks, Bonn

Gender and climate change research: gaps, questions, and potentials. Co-hosted by GenderCC, WECF, BRIDGE/IDS, GDN and LIFE

Reliable data giving evidence for gendered impacts of and contributions to climate are often missing. We will assess available knowledge and discuss most urgent research questions. WECF and atmosfair will present the potential of CDM/JI as funding mechanisms for household and community based projects.

UNFCCC-Side event
Gender and Climate Change research:
gaps, questions, and potentials
7 June 2010 | 18-19:30 | Room SOLAR (MoE)

Gendered knowledge is the basis for successful planning, implementation and evaluation of effective climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, as well as for gender-sensitive policy making. Current knowledge is fragmented and often not tailored to the needs of politicians and policy makers. The side event will introduce the state of the art in gender and climate change research in general and more specific in particular research fields, discuss questions arising from recent studies and present suggestions how to improve the situation.
